Abilities, Perks, and Streaks
Abilities
I’ll keep it simple: smoke bomb and poison is the best set in assassinate. For some reason, there’s a misconception amongst many players that firecrackers are better than smoke bomb, but they are close to useless against good players. Firecrackers blind you a bit, sure, but you can still lock, stun, kill, throw abilities, move around et cetera. Smoke bomb is superior, as it can keep you from being vulched and often leads to double/triple kills. The issue most people seem to have with smoke bomb is that they don’t know when to throw it, which is pretty simple: just throw it right before you press the kill button. There normally shouldn’t be any instance in which you would have to throw your smoke bomb.
Now, if you’re one of those weirdos who thinks smoke bomb is overpowered, or if you’re in a small lobby and you aren’t afraid of being vulched, I’d suggest using mute, not firecrackers. Mute can get you out of a ton of sticky situations and it can also be used to get stuns, although you should probably never get stuns in assassinate, unless they’re glide stuns (aka “reverse drop stuns”, “jump stuns” or simply “drop stun”).
One thing you should almost never do is not use poison, as it’s a really fast kill and it can allow you to get large kill chains without being very vulnerable.
Of course, there are various types of these abilities and they do make quite a difference. Long lasting smoke bomb is the best smoke bomb, as the others normally won’t last long enough to get multiple kills. Slow acting poison is also far superior to the others; fast acting doesn’t give you enough points to be worth it and the gain is just plain stupid. Rapid reload is okay, but the lower cooldown isn’t really worth it, as you probably aren’t going to get a ton of poisons off in a session. Mute is where it gets tricky: most people use long lasting, but those who lag should always use strong, as you can easily be killed through your long lasting mute. This is especially true in assassinate, as the lag compensation mixed with the amount of running makes it the laggiest mode. If you absolutely insist on the usage of firecrackers, I’d suggest using strong, as the amazing lag compensation can really screw with your firecrackers. Long lasting firecrackers won’t really benefit you, as normal firecrackers last long enough. Rapid reload firecrackers are acceptable, but strong firecrackers are still better.
Perks
There aren’t a lot of perks that are actually any good, so I would recommend going with wall runner and overall cooldowns, although you can swap out wall runner for anything you want on Siena, as the buildings are so low, you will barely ever use it anyway.
Streaks
When it comes to kill streaks, you should almost always use the +300 streak, unless you’re up against players whom you outclass like crazy, in which case you should use the +750 streak. The non-silent streaks are just plain garbage, so you should never, ever go with them.
Loss streaks, well, just go with reset cooldowns. Score x2 can be useful, but you’re probably never going to get it and reset cooldowns can help you out like crazy, especially if you smoke bomb someone, chase them and unlock before they die, so you get your smoke bomb back (score x2 is also considered “douchey” by a lot of players).
